Casa Masaccio - Center for Contemporary Art is located in San Giovanni Valdarno, in the province of Florence. The Center was created to support artistic research and the experimentation of new languages dedicated to contemporary art. The Museum was founded inside the rooms where the Florentine artist Masaccio lived. Casa Masaccio is a space in constant transformation and maintains international and national relationships with artists and curators through a platform of residences. Inside the exhibition spaces it is possible to admire the municipal collection of Contemporary Art. The collection consists of works donated and acquired by the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno. The collection includes internationally renowned artists such as Alighiero Boetti, Fernando Farulli, Giovanni Anselmo, Francesco Guerrieri, Sergio Scatizzi, Aldo Turkeyro and many others. The most recent acquisitions derive from the results of artist residencies over the last ten years. In particular, Antonio Rovaldi, Maitree Siriboon and Marinella Senatore are mentioned. Donations from young artists are also part of the heritage, testifying to the close link between the institution and the territory. The Museum today hosts exhibitions, conferences, workshops, film reviews and concerts.
