From 16 September to 7 January 2024
Forty years ago the Civic Drawing Collection began in Salò. It was conceived by Pino Mongiello, then councilor for culture, and Attilio Forgioli, painter, with the professional help of the art critic Flaminio Gualdoni. To celebrate the event, Municipality of Salò, MU.SA. and Civica Raccolta set up and inaugurated an important exhibition entitled "The walk of the line" (May 2023-January 2024).
Ninety years ago, however, Attilio Forgioli was born in Salò (17 March 1933). To celebrate this important life milestone, the same institutions, to which the University of Salò is added (Forgioli being a member of that cultural association) wanted to dedicate to the illustrious fellow citizen, as a sign of gratitude for his work as an artist, an exhibition of pastels that he has created in recent years, demonstrating how alive his creative streak still is.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue, edited by Pino Mongiello, which includes, in addition to the artist's works exhibited at the Mu-Sa, a text by the curator himself, conceived as a biographical reconstruction of his friend, conducted on the thread of memory, so as to bring out a frank and true image of Attilio Forgioli. The critical text bears the signature of Anna Lisa Ghirardi, curator of the Salodian Civica Raccolta. The reading that emerges highlights the inseparable "man-artist" relationship found in the Salodian painter, whose painting "is a nest and an intimate essence".
Particularly significant are the "Thoughts on paper", written by Forgioli in a non-systematic way, which express the evolution and maturation of his sensitivity towards nature and existence, news and history.
