What is a geological map? What is its use for the interpretation of a territory?
For the 200th anniversary of the geological cartography of the Dolomites, the first temporary exhibition in the new rooms of the Museum of Science and Archeology explores the heritage of historical maps of the museum and other institutions, telling their story, emphasizing the educational value, and concluding with the works of the French artist Cathryn Boch who reworks them through her contemporary sensibility.
The exhibition includes a structured layout, where topographic and geological maps, documents, work tools, teaching materials and finally works of art, become an opportunity to EXHIBIT for the first time part of the Museum's cartographic heritage, RETRACE the main stages of the geological knowledge of the Trentino area and beyond, starting from the early 1800s highlighting the contribution of the Civic Museum of Rovereto and REFLECTING on some topical issues closely linked to the geology of the area.
