From 30 October to 26 February 2022
The Nicola Del Roscio Foundation presents from Saturday 30 October 2021 to Saturday 26 February 2022, at the spaces of via Crispi 18, the exhibition of the English-European artist Tacita Dean Sigh, Sigh, Sigh.
The exhibition brings together a series of works dedicated to Cy Twombly (1928–2011), most of which have never before been exhibited in Italy.
The photographic installation GAETA (fifty photographs plus one), 2015 is composed of images taken in Cy Twombly's house and studio in Gaeta (Latina), where the artist resided. The series was first published in 2009 in the form of a photographic essay, as part of the catalog of the Twombly exhibition at the MUMOK in Vienna. Tacita Dean had invited the artist himself to collaborate in the selection of the images. In 2014, while being offered the latest Cibachrome photosensitive paper (positive-positive color photographic printing process), Dean decides to use it to organize the essay in a photographic installation, extending it with the inclusion of different photochemical and other processes. cards dealt.
The 16mm portrait film Edwin Parker, 2011 shows Cy Twombly in his everyday life. The work takes its title from the artist's baptismal name, commonly known by the family nickname “Cy”. The title of the film chosen by Tacita Dean implies intimacy, the encounter with the man beyond the myth and it is in fact a very rare foray into the life of Twombly who has always avoided advertising. In video, the artist appears completely unaware as he reflects, speaks softly and contemplates his sculptures, from his cramped studio he looks out over the curtains, trees and traffic of Lexington, Virginia, where he was born in 1928.
