The press preview of the exhibition “RIFLESSIONI DI ARCHISCULTURA. Photography Sculpture Architecture”, at the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum, directed by Maria Giuseppina di Monte and belonging to the Directorate of the State Museums of the city of Rome, directed by Massimo Osanna.

The exhibition, curated by Emilia Ludovici, will remain open to the public until 28 January 2024.

Four sections illustrate themes and salient moments in the artist's development, thanks to a dialogue between past and present that draws from the considerable photographic repertoire preserved in the archive. From here come the photographs that Hendrik Andersen jealously preserved, often entrusting the shots to professional photographers, to immortalize his works once they were finished or while he was at work in the atelier or during breaks from the laborious work of editing. There are many photographs of sculptures exhibited in the plaster cast gallery and in the gallery, others are photos of works in storage, exhibited in the central hall for the occasion and compared with those taken by David D'Agnelli and Roberto Nisini.

The starting and arrival point of the exhibition itinerary is a site-specific work by Luigi Russo who created an unusual mini installation with the evocative title “Dia-edro. The story of life" recalling the value of the photographic medium which in this case becomes a design object.

The theme chosen for the exhibition is that of monumental sculpture and how this is perceived within a unique architectural space, such as that of a house museum. The itinerary is divided into four sections, always seeking a connection between past and present, research, study and valorisation of the complex heritage of the Museum. At the end of the exhibition, the public will be able to photograph themselves next to the giant poster of Hendrik Andersen in a selfie.
