AlbumArte, independent space for contemporary art in Rome, is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of artist films by Sergio Racanati entitled NA NA N FRASTEIR ("he is not a stranger" in the Apulian dialect), curated by Paola Ugolini and open until February 26, 2022.

The four films that will make up the exhibition will be: IMMEDIATELY PAST_ that is, the great party is over, DETRITI_Salinas Grandes, DEBRIS / DETRITI_Puglia, Līlā, film made in India, Himalaya. Within the exhibition, the artist's poster entitled Why I chose to live in the south will also be exhibited, printed on paper and set up a large installation entitled Debris / Detriti_Argentina consisting of a series of 42 shots from which a social portrait emerges , political, environmental of strong denunciation without entering the dimension of reportage.

The project is supported by IRI REAL ESTATE - Regional Real Estate Institute of Rome and realized with the support of Apulia Center for Art and Technology. Cultural partner: CAPTA (centro_arte_territorio_palanda_ambiente).

The artistic research of Sergio Racanati (Bisceglie, 1982) focuses on an interest in the social sciences, history and popular culture, through an anthropological vision that investigates reality through the inconsistencies and unusual aspects of everyday life. In his cinematographic dimension, the artist does not resort to fiction, but uses a fragmented narrative approach, in which anthropized and non-anthropized landscapes converge, interspersed with fragments of encounters with the inhabitants, however distancing himself from the documentary logic. The micro-stories that make up the films interpenetrate each other, outlining a human and social scenario in which local dynamics describe a condition of universal fragility.

His research develops within the multitude of relationships, ideas and experiences aimed at generating connections with the fragile material of humanity, addressing the question of the spaces of the sensible, of common and community processes. In this context, his practice looks at the public sphere and collective imaginaries as privileged places of investigation. Intrinsic in his research is an interest in social sciences, historical events, popular culture and mass culture, seen through an almost ethnographic lens. The artist works in the field of the enhancement of the historical-artistic heritage, in the awareness that this field constitutes an organic set of works and a sample of examples aimed at representing an archive model.
