From 31 May to 1 October 2023
Over 350 vintage works tell the story of the photographer's research in twenty years of activity in Basilicata, from the mid-60s to the mid-80s.
In this historical and geographical context, Mario Cresci (Chiavari, 1942) developed a personal anthropological approach "in the field", actively contributing to the social, urban and cultural changes underway in those years in the region. In the works on display, the interiors of homes, people, urban spaces, architectural elements and objects of the Lucanian tradition manifest themselves to evoke a collective symbolic horizon that is both archaic and contemporary.
Recurring themes in the photographic research of many authors, such as presence and absence, perception of time, interpretation of reality, appear in Cresci's works in an unprecedented key.
