The National Galleries of Ancient Art are hosting the Giuseppe Loy exhibition from 8 December 2021 to 27 February 2022 in the Palazzo Barberini . A certain Italy. Photographs 1959-1981 , curated by Chiara Agradi and Angelo Loy, the first retrospective forty years after his death. Created by the Giuseppe Loy photographic archive, with the Media Partnership of Rai Scuola, following the digitization and systematization of 1565 rolls in black and white, 338 rolls in color, 1800 prints and documents, the exhibition aims to give an overview of a life dedicated to the camera.
The exhibition " Giuseppe Loy. A certain Italy. Photographs from 1959 - 1981 " collects a selection of 135 original black and white prints, archival documents, poems, epigrams, family shots and a video that traces the friendship between Giuseppe Loy and the artists Alberto Burri, Afro and Lucio Fontana . On display in the Sala delle Colonne and in the Twentieth Century Kitchens of Palazzo Barberini, Loy's shots immortalize his political commitment and his gaze on the customs of an Italy in profound change, alternating with more intimate images, fragments of his private life, testimonies precious friendships of Giuseppe Loy and the protagonists of the art world in a historical period in which "time, politics and events were precipitating the whole world towards a new, profound and at times rebellious conscience" writes in the catalog Luca Massimo Barbero On the occasion of the exhibition, the trilingual catalog (Italian, French, English), published by DRAGO, will be published.
