From 22 September to 14 November 2021
The exhibition Of rock, fires and underground adventures, scheduled in the Extra MAXXI Space from 22 September to 14 November 2021, presents the photographic projects of five of the most interesting authors of current Italian photography, Fabio Barile, Andrea Botto, Marina Caneve, Alessandro Imbriaco, Francesco Neri, in charge of photographing and documenting the birth of as many great infrastructural works all over the world.
On show 120 images taken between 2019 and 2020 in five construction sites and on three continents, between Europe, the Far East and Oceania. The exhibition, curated by Alessandro Dandini de Sylva, is organized in collaboration with Ghella, the oldest Italian company of large infrastructures founded in 1867 and active all over the world, specialized in underground excavations (from that of the legendary Trans-Siberian in 1898 up to to the Sydney subway tunnels that run under the bay). A selection of the works on display will become part of the MAXXI Photography Collection.
