From 9 October to 28 November 2021
Exhibition included in the program of Roma Fotografia 2021 FREEDOM, a festival organized by the Roma Fotografia association in collaboration with Palazzo Merulana, Coopculture, Luce - Cinecittà, Stadio di Domiziano, Mura Latine Committee, Bresciani Visual Art, with the support of the Lazio Region, the patronage of Roma Capitale, promoted by Roma Culture.
The stories of art, like every story, are not fixed crystallizations over time, but live on verification, enrichment. Sometimes of disputes. Sometimes of discoveries. Now an exhibition in Rome allows a renewed and unprecedented evaluation of a master of photography, an artist appreciated internationally, but secluded in history and in the major circuits, and who has long awaited the right value of his scale. Which is that of one of the greatest photojournalists of the twentieth century. His name is Caio Mario Garrubba. Caio Mario Garrubba - FREElance on the road, is the title of the photographic exhibition promoted and organized by the Luce historical archive, hosted at Palazzo Merulana from 9 October to 28 November. Curated by Emiliano Guidi and Stefano Mirabella, in a path of 116 shots, for the most part unpublished, the exhibition finally returns to the capital and to Italy, from a new point of view, a photographer who has tangibly marked an influence that is evident today and witnessed on international photojournalism and street photography. And who has been able to combine social narrative and impressive aesthetic results with a single glance.
