The show

the exhibition ON THE WIRE OF DOING has been extended until June 30, 2023.

On Saturday 25 March 2023 at 5.30 pm , the Venanzo Crocetti Foundation in Rome opens its doors to the important solo show by Antonio Secci Sul filo del fare , curated by Antonello Tolve .

Organized in the spaces on the first and second floors of the museum, among the works and projects of the master Venanzo Crocetti with whom a relationship of participation is created along the path of a work attentive to defining the practice of art as a theory of art, the Antonio Secci's personal exhibition is a powerful short-circuit that chromatically reactivates every single environment, triggering pleasant and reckless points of view, escape routes that open up to reflections on form, on the icon, on the figure.

«Determined by an internal rhythm that is arranged along abscissas and ordinates, by generous obliquities, by interweaving, intrusions, interferences, cracks, interferences, superimpositions or stratifications, the surfaces brought into play by Antonio Secci are ripples that elegantly welcome the challenge of extroversion, bringing painting on a plastic level whose ulterior nature is given by the desire to spatialize, to create prominence, undertow and chromatic ascent» (Tolve).

Compacted on the surface through a careful morphemic game that recovers the gesture and the lump of matter to attempt a richer articulation of signs and to definitively liquidate reality through modulated geometrics, Antonio Secci's pictosculpture is made of folds, of vibrations in which it is possible tracing scraps of nature where the landscapes are, for example, memory and the dream of reason a skilled conjurer.

Born in Dorgali (NU) in 1944, Antonio Secci trained in a cultural climate animated by the desire to travel, to escape towards new visual horizons to conquer and assimilate. Driven by Gianni Dova and Guy Haloff, in 1966 he moved to Milan where he frequented the entourage of Lucio Fontana and started a partnership with Roberto Crippa of which he will be the main collaborator over the years. This is the moment in which the artist opens painting to the third dimension with linguistic stratagems that will bring him closer to analytical painting over the years. Of his vast exhibition activity we recall at least the large anthology organized at the MAN in Nuoro in 1999, the solo show Synthesen síntesi (Vienna, 2015) and Squarci per una spazio possibile. Antonio Secci and Spatialism (Milan, 2018 | Bologna, 2018).

Numerous art critics and theorists have written about him, including Michel Tapiè, Andrè Verdet, Marco Valsecchi, Roberto Sanesi, Raffaele De Grada, Domenico Porzio, Pedro Fiori, Franco Passoni, Eduard Stoma, Maurizio Sciaccaluga, Claudio Cerritelli, Marco Magniani , Cristiana Collu, Mimmo Di Marzio, Tilman Rothermel, Wolfgang Thein, Chris Steinbrecher.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog (Edizioni Kappabit) with an introductory text by Carla Ortolani, President of the Venanzo Crocetti Foundation, an introduction by Antonello Tolve, curator of the exhibition and a rich critical anthology.

ON THE THREAD OF DOING by Antonio Secci can be visited until 15 May 2023 and is made possible thanks to the contribution granted by the Lazio Region - Regional Directorate of Culture and Creative Lazio | Cultural Services and Reading Promotion Area .
