The State Museums Directorate of the city of Rome pays homage to the sixty-year career of Annamaria Russo ARUSS, a versatile artist with an intense chromatic charge, with an anthological exhibition at the headquarters of the Hendrik Christian Andersen museum, directed by Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and of the Boncompagni Ludovisi museum, directed by Matilde Amaturo.

The second section of the exhibition will be inaugurated on Tuesday 20 February at the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum. In the three floors of the "building with adjoining sculpture studio" built in the 1920s by the Norwegian-American sculptor Hendrik Andersen, the curators Maria Giuseppina Di Monte and Valentina Filamingo recompose the passionate artistic adventure of Annamaria Russo: from the portraits and still lifes of early Seventies - works in which subjects from the figurative tradition are treated with mixed techniques: oil, sand and glue - to the evocative collages made with wallpaper recovered from houses of the Sixties, to the futuristic structures in plexiglass, one of the materials of choice of artist, which allow her to create microcosms in dialogue with Hendrik Christian Andersen's utopian project.

The first section of the exhibition is already underway and will be visible until March 3 at the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum, a Roman baroque style villa from the early twentieth century which was once the Roman home of a branch of the family whose name it bears. The Museum which preserves a significant representation of the history of ceramics from DuilioCambellotti to the present day, constitutes the ideal place for a passionate dialogue with the most famous and exciting productions of Annamaria Russo: the large and colorful painted ceramic plates that the artist created inspired from the childhood memory of the banquets that, in the grandparents' house, closed the peasant rites of the grape harvest and harvest.
