Palazzo Merulana , CoopCulture and the Elena and Claudia Cerasi Foundation host an important collective exhibition dedicated to three Italian masters of pictorial abstraction from 23 January to 13 March 2022 : Aller Boille Pignotti. Three outsiders in Rome , exhibition curated by Stefano Gallo.

Luigi Boille (Pordenone 1926 - Rome 2015), Lamberto Pignotti (Florence 1926) and Bruno Aller (Rome 1960), with their research and their work, represent one of the most significant expressions of what is defined as " informal art " , the current that has determined since the 1940s a break with the figurative tradition, not recognizing its ability to narrate the contemporary. Beyond the labels, all three are outsiders because, to put it in the words of Aller himself, each with his own language and his own vision, has taken the right distance from the collateral waste by shunning the producers of sadness.

The exhibition represents an account of a part of the research that gave substance to the avant- garde of the late twentieth century and which followed the objective that the Cerasi Collection, housed in Palazzo Merulana , tried to preserve, that is to maintain the narration of figuration up to the our days. It is therefore a truly interesting opportunity for confrontation for Palazzo Merulana which for the first time, hosting this project, almost fulfills a duty to report and thus responds to "the moods and atmospheres" that arose in the second post-war period, looking at to abstraction as a possibility of writing the present.
