The National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art presents from July 15 to September 14, 2025 the exhibition "2025 East and West: International Dialogue Exhibition - From Shanghai to Rome", curated by *Gabriele Simongini and Zhang Xiaoling, organized by the Ministry of Culture, the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and the Shanghai Artists Association and realized by Zhong Art International. The exhibition is under the Patronage of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Italy, theAcademy of Fine Arts in Florence, theAcademy of Fine Arts in Rome and RUFA - Rome University of Fine Arts, with the support of Shanghai University.

The exhibition, which presents over seventy works by more than forty authors, focuses on the comparison between Chinese artists from Shanghai and the historical collection of the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art: a dialogue with works by great Italian artists of the 20th century particularly well-known and appreciated in China and considered absolute masters in the East, to be admired and studied with respect. Here are the works of Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Amedeo Modigliani, Carlo Carrà, Giorgio de Chirico, Gino Severini, Marino Marini, Giorgio Morandi, Alberto Burri, Lucio Fontana, Jannis Kounellis, Mario Schifano, which offer a concise overview of an entire century describing many different visions (from Futurism to a suspension of post-metaphysical origin, from Informal to the School of Piazza del Popolo and Arte Povera). These works are compared with the works of some contemporary artists known worldwide, such as Maurizio Cattelan and Rudolf Stingel, or emerging artists who establish a multifaceted dialogue: Daniela De Lorenzo, Alessandro Piangiamore, Emanuele Becheri, Davide Rivalta.
