From 17 December to 3 March 2023
Exhibition promoted and organized by the National Academy of San Luca
edited by Giorgia Antonioli, Susanna Pisciella
On the occasion of the awarding of the 2017 President of the Republic Award for Architecture to Renato Rizzi (Rovereto, 1951), the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca is dedicating the Eden-Eden exhibition to the architect. RENATO RIZZI. From the introduction by Claudio Strinati to the exhibition guide: “The exhibition presents over two hundred plaster models relating to around thirty projects by Renato Rizzi, a precious document of the architect's creative trajectory and, at the same time, a reliable portrait of an emblematic artist, evolution outside the usual logic of the so-called "contemporary". Architecture, in Rizzi's doctrine, is concrete fabrication hinged on the awareness of the inescapability of theoretical principles that cannot, however, be fixed once and for all and with an absolute value. This formidable creative tension can be clearly traced in the models exhibited here which, all together, constitute a journey of exhilarating discovery".
Reasons for the award
The Accademia Nazionale di San Luca has indicated the name of the architect Renato Rizzi for the President of the Republic Award for his extremely original, sensitive and passionate professional commitment, as an experimenter, teacher and theorist, which constitute one of the most current and effective contributions to the redefinition of the role of architecture, when it is called to environmental, social and cultural responsibility.
