From 3 November 2022 to 2 July 2023 the Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art presents the exhibition Olafur Eliasson: Trembling Horizons curated by Marcella Beccaria. The artist transforms the Manica Lunga of the Castello di Rivoli by presenting a new series of six immersive works of art similar to optical devices with a wedge structure. Within each installation, complex fluid shapes are seen in motion crossing a 360-degree panoramic space, which appears larger than physically possible. These are optical illusions produced thanks to mirrors and light projections.

Since the end of the nineties, Eliasson's practice has combined the memory of the encounter with nature with the broad branches of science and ecological thought, proposing works that invite the active participation of those who encounter them. Trembling Horizons presents new works that derive from the experiments conducted by the artist in his studio in Berlin. Eliasson was inspired by scientific measurement instruments, considering the ambivalent role they have had throughout history. Produced over the last year, the new works on display propose a closer relationship between body and mind, underlining the value of subjective and sensorial experience.

In the Manica Lunga of the Castle the exhibition itinerary opens with Navigation star for utopia (Navigation star for utopia, 2022), a suspended luminous work that welcomes visitors. Its beams of colored light cross the environment and create luminous effects, almost suggesting the idea of an orientation tool for the future.
