Cloisters of San Pietro

Cloisters of San Pietro

The Cloisters of San Pietro are the most extraordinary monumental complex in Reggio Emilia, one of the most evocative of the Italian Renaissance, with a shape that bears the unmistakable hand of Giulio Romano.

It is an ancient monastery used over the centuries in the most disparate ways and then remained inaccessible, in the historic center of the city, until the moment of its rediscovery and public recovery.

The imposing restoration of the central body and the annexed spaces, financed with Por Fesr funds, made it possible to return the Cloisters of San Pietro to the city as a cultural center of international importance. The birth of the Open Laboratory projects them into the contemporary world, to create a place for participation and discussion, for open and widespread sociality and innovation.
