From 28 April to 28 July 2024
On the occasion of the 19th edition of the European Photography festival, focused on the concept Nature loves to hide, Collezione Maramotti presents the first Italian institutional solo exhibition by Silvia Rosi, entitled "Disintegrata".
The exhibition includes twenty new photographic works, some moving images and a core of archive photographs collected by the artist in Italy – and mainly in Emilia-Romagna – between 2023 and 2024.
Assisted by the work of Mistura Allison, Theophilus Imani and Ifeoma Nneka Emelurumonye, Rosi traveled across the territory to collect hundreds of ordinary photographs, shots from family albums that tell the daily life of those who, who arrived from Africa before the year 2000, portrayed themselves and their own life in different contexts. The project moves in the relationship between the private and public dimensions of photography, between found images and those created in the studio, playing on the shifts in reading and meaning generated by the different contexts of use.
In a path that winds through various creative spaces, from the family album as an intimate place of emergence from the past to the landscape inhabited by black bodies, the exhibition explores, returns and stages, with humour, an imaginary of the idea of " Italianity” in our contemporary territory.
