The personal story of a photographer who for decades has told and experienced the impact of the war on his skin. The awareness of the failure of twenty years of Western intervention in Afghanistan and of any foreign policy based on violence. The reflection on artistic expression and on light that, with difficulty, manages to emerge even from the shadows of war. A project based on artistic contamination to express a strong message: we no longer want any war. Because every dollar swallowed up by the military industry starves an entire generation, depriving them of education, health and safety.
Giles Duley is a documentary photographer and writer, born in 1971 in London. His work has led him to travel to Iraq, Afghanistan, South Sudan, DR Congo, Angola, Bangladesh, Kenya, Ukraine, Jordan, Lebanon, Colombia, Vietnam and Nigeria to document the long-term impact of conflicts on the civilian population. In 2011, while working in Afghanistan, Duley was seriously injured by an explosive device and had to undergo a triple amputation. Nonetheless, in 2012 he returned to the country to continue his work.
