Maramotti Collection presents Through the Floods, a wide collective exhibition conceived starting from works in the archiveof the Collection - many of which have never been exhibited in these spaces - sul tema della catastrofe accompagnate, per la prima volta, damasterpieces of art from the past on loan from important Italian and international institutions sul tema della catastrofe accompagnate, per la prima volta, daWith over fifty works from the 12th century BC to 2024, the exhibition places itself as an asynchronous look at human andworld catastrophes, evoking correspondences between images belonging to distant epochs, but also revealing changes insensibility and perception of the disaster experience over time. The opening and conclusion of the circular visit path is the majestic painting by Filippo Palizzi Beyond the Flood (1864), an original depiction of what follows the universal Flood: in a harsh, sharp landscape just freed from the waters, with the ark stranded almost turned into rock, and in the absence of Noah, a vibrant explosion of multicolored animals invades the canvas, accompanied by the faint trace of a rainbow.Floods, shipwrecks, floods, explosions, hurricanes, fires, wars, epidemics, violent and predatory actions of man on nature: can a catastrophic event configure itself as a form of knowledge or as a point of access to a new scenario? What imaginaries individual and collective the disaster can activate in its meaning of reversal and "turning", what visions to cross the world?
