From 7 September to 3 March 2024
I LOVE LEGO, the record-breaking exhibition which has already seen over 1 million visitors in its stops around the world: an exhibition designed to dream, have fun and rediscover your playful and creative side by peering into the details of entire miniature worlds.
“We are proud to be able to present this cultural event which represents a source of further interest for the valuable sites of our city, in particular the Cilea Theatre, with its splendid foyer, and the Civic Art Gallery” state the acting mayor of Reggio Calabria Paolo Brunetti and the Councilor for Culture and Tourism Irene Calabrò. “For four months – they add – we will offer citizens and tourists the opportunity to visit an interesting and engaging exhibition itinerary, in particular for children and teenagers, but also the many enthusiasts of the sector, raising the level of attractiveness of our territory with an exhibition of international circulation capable of capturing flows oriented towards cultural tourism. The “I Love Lego” exhibition will therefore be an opportunity for adults and children to discover the many curiosities of the world of iconic bricks, and especially for the little ones it will be fascinating to delve, through play and colours, into an environment that houses masterpieces of art such as the tablets by Antonello da Messina or the works of Mattia Preti. A real invitation to the arts, to be discovered and rediscovered with a smile."
Dozens of square meters of scenarios entirely made with LEGO® bricks will compose true works of architecture and engineering: from the ideal contemporary city to the legendary adventures of pirates, from medieval landscapes to the splendors of Ancient Rome, reconstructed and meticulously designed with the modules most famous in the world.
Millions of bricks but not only that. Among 6 fantastic dioramas built thanks to the collaboration of a group of passionate private collectors, the two locations will be invaded by many installations that will make the exhibition unique. In fact, as a backdrop to the Lego mini-worlds and "invading" the dioramas themselves, the very nice cartoons comics created by "Legolize" and the oils inspired by great masterpieces of art history reinterpreted and transformed into "lego men" by the contemporary artist Stefano Bolcato.
