As part of the VIII Biennial of Contemporary Mosaic, on stage in Ravenna from 14 October 2023 to 14 January 2024, Episodes of contemporary mosaic is a project that sees design and mosaic dialogue and interact in the production of new and special objects intended for furnishing of the interior.

The project, curated by Maria Cristina Didero , the first Italian curator to lead Design Miami/, one of the most important design fairs in the world, is designed for the noble spaces of Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste, and is supported and organized by the Municipality of Ravenna - Department of Culture and Mosaic and MAR - City Art Museum, in collaboration with the State Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna

With the aim of enhancing the skills and production and laboratory capabilities of the Ravenna area in the field of mosaic, in its traditional and contemporary guise, the project was born by commissioning six designers and creatives, selected by the curator, to create objects intended to be worked in mosaic.

Industrial design, digital 3D printing and support shaping technologies, skill and sensitivity typical of the artisanal processing of mosaic, made of tiles of stone and glass materials, converge with ingenuity, offering results of great charm and originality.

The projects designed by the authors Arthur Arbesser, Atelier Biagetti, Cara | Davide, Lanzavecchia + Wai and Gio Tirotto, are made in mosaic by the Annafietta laboratories, Gruppo Mosaicisti of Marco Santi, Pixel Mosaici in collaboration with Dimensione Mosaico, Koko Mosaico of Arianna Gallo and Barbara Liverani Studio and see the WASP company involved in the production of the supports, 3D printed in PLA (a bioplastic made from corn starch); Marco Guazzini's project is created by CaCO3 Studio and sees the collaboration between the companies Bencore and UpGroup, for the production of the shaped honeycomb aluminum support and for the marble processing.
