The Provincial Art Gallery of Potenza is located in the Santa Maria district. The Museum was founded in 2000 and runs alongside the Provincial Archaeological Museum. The art gallery houses a museum collection full of paintings and sculptures by local, national and international artists. In particular, the art gallery is responsible for enhancing emerging or established artists by exhibiting their works in solo or group exhibitions. Among the main works on display we remember two paintings on wood from the workshop of Antonio Stabile, an artist of local fame. In the exhibition rooms are kept the works of the nineteenth century by artists of the caliber of: Giacomo Di Chirico, Angelo Brando, Michele Tedesco, Vincenzo La Creta, Giuseppe Mona, Andrea Petrone and many others. In the section of the twentieth century, more recent artists are celebrated, such as Vincenzo Claps, Luigi Guerricchio, Italo Squiltieri, Carlo Levi, Renato Guttuso and Fausto Pirandello. The Pinacoteca hosts temporary exhibitions, cultural events, seminars and conferences focused on local emerging artists.
