From 22 June to 11 January 2026
Accepted the Artsupp Card
From June 22, 2025 to January 11, 2026, the Gypsotheca Antonio Canova Museum in Possagno (TV) dedicates an exhibition to Carlo Scarpa (Venice 1906-Sendai, Japan 1978), one of the most authoritative figures in architecture and exhibition design of the 20th century, documenting his connection with the arts within the Venice Biennale, with which he collaborated for almost forty years, from 1934 to 1972, creating dozens of exhibitions and architectural interventions, including the entrance ticket office at the Gardens, the courtyard-garden and the mezzanine in the Italian Pavilion, the Book Pavilion and the Venezuela Pavilion.
The exhibition, curated by Mario Gemin and Orietta Lanzarini, aims to document how the partnership between Carlo Scarpa and the Venetian Institution was fundamental in his professional history, to the point of guiding his design and artistic research. The exhibition presents a rich selection of paintings, drawings, and sculptures by renowned artists such as Gustav Klimt, Paul Klee, Alberto Giacometti, Giorgio Morandi, Arturo Martini, Alberto Viani, Osvaldo Licini, and others; about twenty glass pieces created by Carlo Scarpa for Cappellin and Venini, some of his unpublished autograph drawings, and three sculptures. All the works exhibited come from the collection of the Treviso architect Luciano Gemin, a student, friend, and collaborator of Carlo Scarpa.
The exhibition path is divided into three sections, which are guided by Carlo Scarpa's great passion for the arts, cultivated especially in the context of the Biennale, first by attending the exhibitions at the Gardens and then by collaborating professionally with it.
