From October 15, 2022, Pistoia Musei presents In visite, the project that provides for the temporary exhibition of one or more national and international works of art within the permanent path of the Collections of the twentieth century at Palazzo de 'Rossi. The intent is to create moments of study, dialogue, comparison on authors, themes and cultural currents of the last century and the current one.

The first appointment, curated by Monica Preti and Annamaria Iacuzzi, is with Fausto Melotti (1901-1986) and his two precious 1950s Koredos put in dialogue with Marino Marini's 1945 Pomona. Until March 12, 2023, the two ceramic Kore by Melotti, who came to visit from private collections, will dialogue with Pomona, the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection on loan to Collezioni del Novecento, already present at the center of the building inaugurated in May. A dialogue between forms, materials and images that also becomes a reason for reflection on the theme of the persistence of the ancient myth in the art of the twentieth century and in the contemporary world.

Long and slender, conical in shape with richly decorated surfaces, without arms but with well-highlighted breasts, the two Kore by Fausto Melotti have in themselves the suggestion of certain shapes of the terracotta figurines of the Mediterranean basin, produced between the Neolithic and the Bronze Age . In the creation of Kore Melotti adopts a particular technique, working very thin sheets of clay that are transformed into light and fragile sculptures, often richly decorated with vegetal or geometric ornaments and with iridescent colors.

At the same time, in Pomona the treatment of the stone material suggests the idea of corrosion due to the passage of time. In this way Marini seems to contradict certain ideals of classical beauty, accentuating in the sculpture a sense of belonging to past civilizations.

In collaboration with the Fausto Melotti Foundation, from 15 October 2022 to 12 March 2023 , the first appointment of In visite will be with two precious Kore by Fausto Melotti . The exhibition will be inaugurated by a public meeting at Palazzo de 'Rossi with speeches by Monica Preti , Annamaria Iacuzzi and Eva Fabbris , Exhibition Curator of the Prada Foundation, who will give an unprecedented reading on the artist's ceramic work.
