The show

In Pienza, from 6 May to 5 November 2023, at the San Carlo Borromeo Conservatory, curated by Leonardo Scelfo, it will be possible to visit a splendid exhibition with the works of Dario Neri and the verses of Mario Luzi. The leitmotif is the Landscape, a source of pictorial and poetic inspiration, the richness of a Val d'Orcia that was once not so beautiful as it was poor and isolated, narrated by Iris Origo.

Dario Neri's paintings are made between 1920 and 1956. They deliver a countryside identical to the current one, wonderful and laconic, sweet and harsh like the effort of manual work spent for centuries, unchanged in the fields, in the woods, in the fruit harvests and wheat, which technique and mechanics have made more human and less tiring.Mario Luzi, the poet who spent many summers in Pienza and who wrote memorable pages dedicated to the harmonious and synthetic landscape painted by Neri or admired Unesco Humanity, since 2004. In the exhibition, painting and poetry intertwine in words and audio, the brutal effort of sawing and threshing the grain filmed in a period film by Dario Neri, which runs continuously on a large screen between the works.
