The show

The Pescheria Foundation - Centro Arti Visive di Pesaro, in collaboration with Sistema Museo, continues its exhibition program with the exhibition by Matteo Fato entitled "Night scene on the sea" by Marcello Smarrelli, which opens on Friday 28 June at 7 pm and will be open until November 3, 2019.

The exhibition, designed specifically for Pesaro, starts with the painting by an anonymous 17th century painter from Pesaro preserved in the deposits of the Civic Museums, conventionally entitled "Night scene on the sea". The canvas, which represents a sea in the moonlight, has been the subject of study by Fato, who has created a new series of works that are placed in an ideal dialogue with his predecessor of five hundred years ago.

The unprecedented and surprising comparison between present and past opens up a profound reflection on painting, its history and its current identity.

Particularly attentive to the space that houses his works, to the point of including it as a constituent element, the artist allowed himself to be guided by the suggestion of the Pescheria Visual Arts Center , divided into the Loggiato della Pescheria, open to the street, and in the dodecagonal and centrifugal environment of the Church of the Suffragio.
