THE VISCONTEO CASTLE BRINGS THE BATTLE OF PAVIA TO LIFE:

AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY AND HISTORY

The multimedia exhibition "The Battle of Pavia, February 24, 1525: the times, the places, the men", featuring the painting "The Siege of Pavia" by Mario Acerbi from the artistic heritage of Intesa Sanpaolo.

The Visconteo Castle transforms into an immersive theater thanks to the use of artificial intelligence, augmented reality, 3D objects, and interactive tablets.

"The Battle of Pavia, February 24, 1525: the times, the places, the men", which will be open to the public from Saturday, February 15th until December 29th, 2025. Created on the occasion of the Five Hundredth Anniversary of the Battle, the exhibition offers visitors a unique immersive experience, thanks to the use of the most advanced technologies that allow for an engaging exploration of the protagonists, places, and atmospheres of an event that marked European history.

Set up in three rooms, the exhibition skillfully combines historical content with digital innovation: the talking avatars of the emperors Charles V and Francis I, animated reconstructions created with artificial intelligence, 3D visualizations of period objects through interactive tablets, and virtual reality headsets offer visitors an engaging and immersive journey, bringing them directly to the battlefield.

In addition to utilizing the most modern multimedia technologies, the exhibition project presents the work of Mario Acerbi "The Siege of Pavia" (1932), from the artistic heritage of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the main partner of the Five Hundredth Anniversary. The painting, the only live work on display, will significantly contribute to a deeper understanding and broader appreciation of the impact of the battle, including its echoes in Italian and European art, to which a dedicated section of the exhibition is devoted.

The opening event began with the institutional greetings from the members of the Promoter Committee and the High Coordination: Dr. Michele Lissia - Mayor of Pavia, Hon. Prof. Giulio Tremonti - President of the Promoter Committee and High Coordination, Dr. Giovanni Merlino - Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Cremona-Mantova-Pavia, Prof. Giampaolo Azzoni - Delegate of the Rector, University of Pavia. This was followed by interventions from Prof. Mario Rizzo - Historian and curator of the exhibition and Representatives of ETT S.p.A. and WAY Experience, the digital and creative industries that created the exhibition.
