The exhibition "Sea of Sheets" by Croce Taravella unveils 37 unpublished works, created on metal sheets, that explore the deep connection between cities and the sea. These works are a careful reflection on the encounter between the natural and the urban, where the sea, with its strength and dynamism, clashes with the solidity of city structures. On the ground floor, the exhibition path is enriched by 24 monochromatic panels that enhance and deepen the theme of the exhibition.
Taravella's work stands out for its ability to combine figurative and abstract language in original compositions that capture the eye and stimulate the mind. The artist chooses aluminum as the main support, not only as a resistant element, but as a true expressive medium. Thanks to its reflective surface, aluminum becomes a field of experimentation, where Taravella employs mixed techniques that include engravings, burnings, and various treatments on the metal surface. This complex technique allows the artist to combine acrylics, oils, pastels, resins, and other materials. The metal is not just the support of the painting, but becomes an integral part of the visual narrative, interacting with the surrounding space and the viewer. Taravella's works evoke a sense of transformation and reflection, in a continuous contrast between the solid and the ephemeral, the natural and the artificial, inviting the viewer to reflect on the connection and tensions between these two worlds.
The exhibition is produced by Fondazione Sant’Elia, supported by the Sicilian Regional Assembly, the Department of Tourism, Sports and Entertainment, and the Metropolitan City of Palermo.
