Antonio Pasqualino Puppet Museum
Piazza Antonio Pasqualino, 5, Palermo
Closed today: open tomorrow at 10:00
The brave deeds of the Paladins of France animate the theatrical hall of the Museum every day: on Mondays at 11.00; from Tuesday to Saturday at 5.00 pm. Proclaimed in 2001 by UNESCO "Masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity", the Opera dei Pupi is the traditional Sicilian puppet theater dating back to 1800. In the legend of Charlemagne, Orlando and Rinaldo, various themes are intertwined around the war of Christians and Saracens, thus provoking a strong identification on the part of the public. In the wake of a bicentennial tradition, the shows will re-propose some of the main episodes of the History of the Paladins of France by Giusto Lodico represented in the theaters of Palermo as early as 1800.
