The Oslo Jewish Museum, founded in 2008 and located in the former synagogue at Calmeyers gate 15B in the Grünerløkka district of Oslo, is one of the few Scandinavian institutions dedicated to Jewish culture and history in Norway.
The purpose of the museum is to collect, preserve, study, and disseminate knowledge about the contribution of the Jewish community in Norway – migration, daily life, religious practices, and integration into Norwegian society. The collections include approximately 2,200 objects, including documents, photographs, personal archives, audiovisual materials, and manuscripts.
Located in a carefully restored historic building between 2005 and 2008, the former synagogue preserves original elements of sacred decoration, including the Torah ark, chandeliers, and architecturally significant details that have been meticulously recovered.
