Architectures of nature. Domes of seeds and cathedrals of grass threads. The German artist, adopted by Tuscany, presents at MAN a large installation that punctuates the main floor of the museum with light and intangible sculptures, an ode to the lightness of nature and, at the same time, to its complexity. Highly skilled in hoisting sculptures made of dandelions, stems, pods, or horsehair, Christiane Löhr's hands hoist thin arboreal structures into space, constructing minimal landscapes. In addition to new abstract forms for small sylvan temples, an homage to Sardinia is added on this occasion, where the author presents small accumulations of grains or seeds, evoking towers and nuragic constructions. However, in Löhr's research, natural inspiration does not become a didactic testimony of vegetation and its species. Her reflection sublimates matter into a dimension of radical abstraction and absolute form, characterized by balance and proportion among the elements, a sense of space, and the value of emptiness. The exhibition also includes a selection of drawings on paper, created with oil pastel, graphite, or ink, the result of a similar sculptural process in which the paper fibers are rubbed and scratched like plastic material.
