The Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle de Nice is a science and natural history museum in Nice. Inaugurated in 1846 as Nice's first municipal museum, the museum itinerary consists of a naturalist walk through the town and the coast to discover the hidden treasures of the biodiversity of this territory, universally known for its semi-marine and semi-alpine landscapes, a rich but fragile natural treasure, where there are mammals (wolves, roe deer, wild boars, chamois), birds (birds of prey, hunters, sparrows), reptiles and insects; and more plants and mushrooms, as well as a long series of minerals and rocks. It is then possible to visit the building where the museum is located, which is located near the Place Garibaldi: today, the museum has a heritage of more than a million species, partly visible in the museum. This heritage continues to grow steadily, as part of the collection comes from the Mediterranean regions, but also from South America, Africa and Madagascar. The museum also organizes several temporary exhibitions.
