At the MANN, in Naples, for the first time 12 large marbles and over 110 works by the great sculptor to focus, in the "temple" of classical art, the fruitful bond between Canova and the ancient.
"The last of the ancients and the first of the moderns": a definition that is well suited to the great Antonio Canova and his sublime art, celebrated for the first time in Naples, at the MANN-National Archaeological Museum from 28 March to 30 June 2019, in an extraordinary exhibition-event in terms of theme and exhibition corpus , co-promoted by the Mibac-National Archaeological Museum of Naples with the State Hermitage Museum of St. Petersburg as part of the important collaboration protocol that binds the two institutions.
The exhibition received the support of the Campania Region, the patronage of the Municipality of Naples, the Gypsotheca-Museo Antonio Canova in Possagno and the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa and was created with the collaboration of Ermitage Italia.
