From 20 May to 21 June 2020
From May 20 to June 21 in the spaces of the Civic Museums, via Teodolinda, 4, it will be possible to visit the 37th edition of the international exhibition of illustration for children "The Images of Fantasy" of the "Zavřel" Foundation of Sàrmede, organized by the System Urban Librarian in collaboration with the Civic Museums of Monza.
Curated by Gabriel Pacheco, it is divided into two segments: the "Panorama" section has been set up in the exhibition hall, presenting 17 internationally awarded artists with the task of reflecting on space as a representation of ideas and the "Homage to Štěpán Zavřel" section ; in the underground room the «Guest of Honor» section with an anthology dedicated to Eric Puybaret, the French illustrator who in twenty years of career «has been able to draw the subtle substance of the imagination». Also on display are the original plates (and the books in which they were published) by some authors from all over the world, selected by the «Zavřel» Foundation.
The "alliance" between places of culture
Despite the spread of the Coronavirus which forced the closure of all places of culture "we went" beyond "the emergency and on our Facebook channels we accompanied visitors to the discovery of some works with explanations, stories, curiosities and contributions from two" guide ”of exception, the curator of the exhibition Gabriel Pacheco and the guest of honor Éric Puybaret. Now, finally, we are taking the step from virtual to real », declares the Councilor for Education and Library Systems Pier Franco Maffé.
«The exhibition is the result of a collaboration project between very important cultural sites for our city, libraries and Civic Museums. Among the subjects that have contributed to this year's edition, then, there are the schools, the Art School "Nanni Valentini" of Monza and the State Art School "Amedeo Modigliani" of Giussano, which have collaborated on the graphics of communication and they have made some installations which unfortunately it was not possible to exhibit. A job that has been part of an important and demanding educational path. For this I thank students and professors ».
