The show

The Vacchi Foundation presents a new solo exhibition by Adriano Bimbi made up of an important group of sculptures and drawings that interact with the fascinating spaces of the garden and the exhibition rooms of the Castello di Grotti in the province of Siena.

Bimbi (Bibbona 1952, lives in Florence), is an internationally renowned sculptor who works with rigor and refinement on the form and material of his works, evoking lavish lineages from the great history of art, embellishing the poor things of the everyday world, transforming the small objects and clothes of our days in gold and lapis lazuli jewels, in sumptuous gems where styles blend to give life to something new where you can nevertheless feel the breath of antiquity.

Bimbi in fact bases his visual world on a refined drawing talent that is expressed in the severe and elegant construction of his figures, but also in the metaphysical synthesis of his landscapes, in the canons and in the architectural measure of bodies and spaces.

The exhibition, therefore, wants to give life to an allusive journey that, as in a labyrinth, accompanies us on an initiatory path composed of the artist's sculptures, in a sort of mystical ring on the border between earth and sky.

Accompanied by the mysterious presence of a diviner, you can then venture into the geometric and enigmatic spaces of an enchanted garden, the archetypal symbol of a lost elsewhere that we can perhaps find thanks to the silent messages of young women who show themselves as suspended outside of time.

In this itinerary traced by the hermetic gaze of a reclining sage (perhaps in a triclinium or on an ancient sarcophagus) we immerse ourselves in the tears of a girl who bead a magical cypress with gold, we walk towards an open door beyond the boundary of time, we arrive at a ladder resting on nothing to ascend to heaven, freeing ourselves from the earthly and metaphorical weight of heavy mud shoes, lifting ourselves upwards like the hands of a praying young woman immersed in the silence of prayer.

Inauguration Saturday 16 July 2022 at 18.00 with the participation of the musicians Stefano Cocco Cantini soprano and tenor saxophone and Ilaria Guarnaccia piano and keyboard.
