Figure shows the world of stickers in the contemporary world: here the news is represented by Instagram. The installation extrapolates from today's “stickers”, the images that we post every day on social media, the great contemporary themes by comparing them with paper objects, part of the collection of the Museum in Modena, which has handed down history to us. With these premises, the project takes place in a projection of about 9 meters that frames six issues related to the world of (over) production of images. Through an ad hoc algorithm, Figura makes a constantly updated selection of the images posted on Instagram, engaging with the viewer an interactive action, following his gaze and hand gestures, able to enlarge, underline, or point the lens on most important details.
AuroraMeccanica was born in Pisa in 2007 from the collaboration between Carlo Riccobono, Roberto Bella and Fabio Alvino as an audiovisual production studio. In 2008 the group opened a studio in Turin and concentrated part of its energies in the creation of interactive video installations. The video production is flanked by an intense artistic production that leads auroraMeccanica to exhibit its works in museums and galleries in Italy and abroad. Thanks to the experience gained in the field of digital art since 2014, auroraMeccanica deals with interaction design and planning of interactive museum itineraries. Attention to the production of multimedia content, combined with a particular regard for cultural accessibility and reflection on the viewer-technology relationship become the cornerstone around which all the studio's projects are born.
