ongoing Tiepolo, Canaletto and the Venetian eighteenth-century masters in the drawings and prints of the Castello Sforzesco

The show

The Sforzesco Castle in Milan inaugurates, in the rooms of the Ancient Spanish Hospital, a cycle of exhibitions dedicated to the graphic collections of the Drawings Department and the "Achille Bertarelli" Civic Collection of Prints. The first dossier exhibition presents five great Venetian masters of the eighteenth century: Giovanni Battista and Giandomenico Tiepolo, Giovanni Battista Piazzetta, Antonio Canal known as Canaletto and Bernardo Bellotto.

The exhibition, curated by Francesca Mariano and Eleonora Scianna, presents a rare opportunity for the public to admire works on paper which, by their very nature, must be kept in dedicated rooms and in particular conditions and for this reason they are excluded from the permanent museum itinerary. of the Castello Sforzesco.

The drawings and prints on display come from some famous Milanese private collections such as those of two great art historians, Senator Giovanni Morelli and his pupil Gustavo Frizzoni, but also from the collections of the Milanese aristocracy such as the Trivulzio and Antonio collections. Gascons. Donated to the city since the nineteenth century, these today constitute an important graphic heritage that documents, among other things, the different aspects of the artistic expression of the eighteenth century in Venice.
