The journey is a theme that cuts across different cultures and disciplines. The exhibition, curated by Katya Inozemtseva and Sara Rizzo, will highlight the genesis of the MUDEC collections as a reflection of the city's history: integrated from their origins in the heritage of the civic museums of Milan, these collections have been formed as a collection of exotic artifacts brought from different parts of the world by citizens, enthusiasts, businessmen, travelers, researchers. It is a collection of objects linked to travel, souvenirs that reflect a certain type of relationship between the collector and the artifact. Travelogue will open with an introductory section dedicated to the mythical journey starting from European culture with, for example, Charon and Dante. The exhibition will continue addressing the themes of nomadism, metaphorical travel, and mental travel to arrive at the "materiality" of journeys. Travelogue aims to rediscover some contexts and invite to a new understanding of tourism/travel. Objects intended for the domestic market will be compared with those created for the tourist market; there will be no shortage of miniature sculptures, fakes, and replicas. Another section will be dedicated to travel diaries, photo albums, sketchbooks, maps, and other small objects through which travelers have constructed their personal narrative, from the late nineteenth century to the entire twentieth century. The crucial issue of migrations and diasporas, which have marked and continue to mark recent history, will be addressed with significant contributions from contemporary artists, "directors" who work with different forms of nomadism, including Yervant Gianikian and Angela Ricci Lucchi. In the special section set up in the curved showcases of the agora, there will be a space dedicated to ancient and modern means of transportation, thanks to the collaboration of the National Museum of Science and Technology "Leonardo da Vinci" in Milan.
