The style of the artistic works by Manuela Manes definitely looks to the great Masters of American Action Painting: the gestuality is impetuous and comes from one's emotional vibration. Abstraction with all its declinations and Dada inserts certainly peeks out on various canvases. If the works of the past, enclosed in the exhibition "Imprints," were born from an inner journey of introspection, the works of the last five years are an expression of that relationship and connection that arises from encounters with people and with every form of art that have inspired the artist and influenced her world. Thus arises "Sinfonie" - curated by Massimiliano Bisazza - which is, therefore, the expression of this personal experience.
The canvases are intentionally and decisively material, where the "contamination" is inherent also in the choice of materials: acrylic colors, enamels, resins, cement, plaster, sand, jute and recycled materials. The artist has opted for a very bright color range, not failing to seek harmony through the contrasts of pigments. In this sense, that deep complicity between color and the expression of emotions has been confirmed, thanks to the use of pure matter, in the tangible narrative of stories and personal anecdotes, feelings, encounters, and much more.
The exhibition unfolds in 3 fundamental themes: "Reactions," which represents the "Soul Interlude" of this musical journey (2020-2022), born during the pandemic. These are the stories, the narrations of isolation that emerge as a reaction to the forced and complicated period of solitude.
In "Four Seasons one love - Rock Ballad," a love story is narrated that has a half-life of about four seasons. Four major works, of which only the work "FALL in love" is exhibited in the gallery, have the task of making us question what love is. Finally, in the chapter "Solo - Bossa Vibes," the new works of 2023/2024 emerge, where each of the chosen colors lives a moment as an absolute protagonist. Here and now, blue is the guiding color, which predominates in the emotional summer of the artist "capable of immersing sensations in the soft notes of a distant music" and which will be the architect in generating new memories, new paths, new life journeys full of feelings and bright purposes.
Manuela Manes was born in the province of Pordenone and lives in Milan. Graduated in law, she is a freelance journalist and works in the communication sector. She studies and paints mainly abstract and conceptual subjects, using oil, acrylic, sands, papers, and enamels.
