From 25 March to 4 July 2024
Archive Atelier Pharaildis Van den Broeck is pleased to present PROJECT ROOM #9 from March 25 to May 25, 2024. Marta Pierobon and Forniture Pallotta celebrate Pharaildis Van den Broeck with an anti-monument. Starting from the studies and prototypes of the Belgian artist and fashion designer on the broad theme of the set table, the two artists and food designers stage an affectionate and intimate ritual in which conviviality is understood as a free and fluid attitude to connect with others. An ideal dinner in which the five guests - Marta Pierobon, Alessandra Pallotta, Barbara Garatti, Michele Sagramoso, and Pharaildis Van den Broeck - seated around a table become actors and spectators of a scene in which the inanimate objects, Pierobon's ceramics, and the edible sculptures of Alessandra Pallotta become devices to trigger unexpected choreographies.
Between the container and the content of what is arranged on the table, the threshold is always tenuous: painted plates, glass-mouths, onion-chains, hand-ashtrays form a whole with the bodies that will consume them. As usual, the exhibition project aims to create unusual and transdisciplinary readings between different languages and attitudes. Marta Pierobon has been working for years with ceramics creating sculptures in which the familiar and domestic imagery of the body is transfigured by surreal and disturbing visions. On the other hand, Alessandra Pallotta uses food as a plastic material to create trompe-l'œil that deceive not only sight but also smell, taste, and touch. Project Room #9, as usual, is accompanied by the publication of a limited edition booklet in 200 copies designed by Emiliano Biondelli. In continuity with the Project Room program started in 2019, this year too the opening project of the Archive Atelier Pharaildis Van den Broeck, conceived and coordinated by the archive curator Barbara Garatti, aims on one hand to enhance and make known the artist's work and on the other to promote new methodologies of research and production of contemporary visual arts, in line with the mission of the Committee for the Archive Atelier Pharaildis Van den Broeck.
