The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum presents THE GOLDEN CENTURY OF SCAVIA. An enchanting beauty, an incursion of goldsmith art in the permanent itinerary of the House Museum created in collaboration with Scavia which will be held from 8 to 12 November 2023. The exhibition, one hundred years after the opening of the first Milanese shop, marks a partnership between the House Museum and the well-known jewelery maison that has enchanted the world with timeless creations for a century.

The centuries-old history of Scavia is an example of high Milanese artistic craftsmanship which has seen four generations of a family dedicated to the creation of jewellery. This is a story similar to the identity of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, a neo-Renaissance residence commissioned by the brothers Fausto and Giuseppe in the mid-nineteenth century which harmoniously preserves two souls, the Renaissance one and the nineteenth-century one, the result of a highly refined work of high craftsmanship for the creation of furniture, furnishings and architectural decorative parts.

Scavia and the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum are two realities that share the same scenario of beauty and magnificence: the "Fashion Quadrilatero", the heart of Milan which during the twentieth century became a luxury district and the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum animates its cultural life.

It was 1911 when Domenico Scavia, a skilled goldsmith, moved from Valenza to Milan together with his wife Maria to open a jewelery workshop, still active today, in a building in Corso XXII Marzo. A few years later, in 1923, the first shop opened on the same street. Upon the death of Maria and Domenico, it was their daughter Sara, supported by her son Fulvio, who took over the family's destiny, making the business prosper and distinguishing herself as one of the few leading women in the Italian goldsmith sector. Today, the fourth generation of Scavia, with Fulvio and his son Alessandro, looks to the future by breaking tradition, standing out in the art of high jewelery for profound innovation.

The exhibition THE GOLDEN CENTURY OF SCAVIA. An enchanting beauty therefore wants to pay homage to this exciting family story: in the rooms of the Museum, some of the brand's historic jewels will be exhibited, in close synergy with the permanent collection, alongside others of recent manufacture, the result of Fulvio's creative flair Scavia and Alessandro Scavia. Unique pieces that make the passion and dedication of their designers immediately recognisable, many of whom have been awarded prestigious international awards.
