Painting is, for Vittorio Mazzucconi, an "inner journey" that goes from eros to transcendence, with images that present themselves with astonishing truth. His path passes through the women he loved and who, in the exhibition, take the names of mythological figures, suggesting the deepest presence of the fundamental archetypes of life. With our eyes fixed on this "super-reality", the events of contemporary art are often only the superficial, ideological and commercial inventions of the "external" path, so far from the internal one of true art.
Exhibition 1978-79 Euridice
The world of matter, which is also that of emotions, shakes off the spiritual abstractions that were prevalent in the previous period, first with the suffering of the mother's death, and then with eros, which presents itself with the appearance of Brigitte. Just as Eurydice disappeared forever from the beloved, so did the girl, this time because family commitments made this love impossible, leading to the decision to cut it off. An abandonment that was for the artist a real "Descent into the Underworld", starting to paint again only in 1977, bringing with it a long trail of pain and guilt complexes that have plagued him for many years: too much for those who look at it. superficially to a small story, but we see that its failure has touched the deep chords of a desire for love denied and, at this price, has paved the way for wisdom, as happened to the ancient heroes who embarked on the same journey.
