From 2 March to 1 April 2024
From 2 March to 1 April 2024 at Palazzo Reale Milan, Contemporary Museum Watching collects 62 shots by photographer Alex Trusty, exhibited to the public for the first time. The works are taken from a selection of shots taken between 2015 and 2023 in over 80 museums: from the Pinacoteca di Brera to the Galleria Borghese, from the Vatican Museums to the Archaeological Museum of Naples, passing through numerous international museums such as the National Gallery in London, the MOMA in New York, the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Musée Magritte in Brussels and many others.
In museums, the photographer is attracted by everything that happens around the work of art, and in particular by the spectator in contemplation, as a complementary part of the work itself. The relationship between man and work of art is today stripped of the sense of awe of the past, to make room for a free and new interaction; also for this reason the title “Contemporary” museum watching. Another protagonist of the shots exhibited is architecture: buildings, galleries and museum spaces.
