From 28 May to 9 July 2021
United by a common passion for storytelling, the artists Beatrice Marchi and Mia Sanchez present the exhibition La Città ei Perdigiorno at the Istituto Svizzero Milano from 28/05 to 09/07
The term "perdigiorno" carries with it a strong poetic and discovery meaning: getting lost in the day, getting lost in time. In this sense, the term also implies an indefinite movement, perhaps aimlessly, a wandering through a landscape, through an urban space.
A detective walking around Milan, a photographer carrying a gigantic photographic lens, a dog named Mafalda with long floppy ears are some of the characters that populate the works of the artists. In other words, characters wandering around the city, 'idlers' who get lost in time, perhaps even discovering things that most people miss. In addition to presenting works created specifically for the exhibition, La Città ei Perdigiorno is an opportunity to explore the fascinating narratives of Beatrice Marchi and Mia Sanchez, who play on the dichotomy between fiction and reality through the urban context of Milan.
Through new installations and videos, the public will be able to discover the work of the two artists as well as deepen the links between the emerging Swiss and Italian art scene.
