The show

Sacrostudio by Alberto Timossi, curated by Simona Spinella, in collaboration with the Galleria Gallerati in Rome and the Stauròs Museum of contemporary sacred art in Teramo.

The exhibition consists of two sculptures, a stool and nine photographs, in a descending path, from the Graphics Room to the end of the third hypogeum of Palazzo Pomarici.

Sacrostudio is a place, sacred to artists because it is there that according to Timossi are found "the founding matrices of creativity and visual culture" as a place of work, conception and creation of the work. Sacrostudio is a journey marked by three moments: Maternity, Death, Burial. It is an installation "built on the symbolic number Three and on the tradition that has always developed the religious theme under the composition of the polyptych, and in its more simplified conformation of the triptych." There are in fact three elements: the study stool, worn out by work, and the two sculptures in PVC, a cross and a sarcophagus, each accompanied by a triptych of photographs. They are women portrayed on the artist's stool feeding the fruit of creative work, a sculpture, or dead on the cross or lying in the sarcophagus. The red color of the stool and of the two sculptures also emerges from the photographs, taken with the technique of selective desaturation, and is the characteristic red of other works by Alberto Timossi such as Le parti del speech, the graft in PVC created for the MUSMA in 2008 , which crosses the terrace of Palazzo Pomarici.
