On Saturday, March 29th starting from 6:30 pm, Fondazione SoutHeritage, with a renewed commitment to contemporary art and accessibility, opens its 2025 programming by presenting the exhibition project: OPERA, ON OPERA, ON OPERA: Claude Closky, David Lamelas, Jonathan Monk, Claude Rutault, Lois Weinberger. Fondazione SoutHeritage, as an institution driven by the desire to contribute to cultural development to produce expanded knowledge and consolidate artistic expressions in society by making them visible, relevant, and meaningful, promotes the exhibition project: "OPERA, ON OPERA, ON OPERA: Claude Closky, David Lamelas, Jonathan Monk, Claude Rutault, Lois Weinberger". Within its institutional evolution as an exhibition-based institution, the foundation positions itself as an active public facilitator, aiming to strengthen the cultural ecosystem of the territory by focusing on the dialogue between exhibition contents and the reception of contemporary creation. In this framework and within the platform of exhibition episodes dedicated to these themes, where the exhibition space becomes a functional device for the enhancement of cultural heritage, as well as accessibility and sharing of knowledge, the exhibition is dedicated to questioning the role of contemporary art works and the public, along with their process of fruition, with the aim of creating a moment of dialogue on access to contemporary art and its values, on the viewer of visual art of our days, and on the exhibition format as an organization of an experiential context for the public. Starting from representative research and methodologies of contemporary creation and from a particular exhibition context such as the SoutHeritage pavilion (a noble chapel part of a building complex from the 16th century - Palazzo Viceconte, located in the center of the Sassi districts of Matera - UNESCO Heritage), the exhibition, through important testimonial works already cataloged and/or historicized, aims to foster critical reflections, contextualizations, and reconstructions of something that goes beyond the usual exhibition narrative by exploring the exhibition format as a tool for vision for the public and at the same time contribute to reducing, in the cultural experience of the audience, the distance between historicized culture and daily experience, identifying together with them directions of meaning in relation to which to look at and share the art experience.
