CANEMORTO is a trio of Italian artists with a hidden identity, active since 2007. Their work develops on the border between reality and fiction: followers of a canine divinity called Txakurra, they spread his cult through "six-handed" works that exploit the various media.
"The restoration of the Txakurreo hypogeum" is the first exhibition hosted by the TAM and represents a "manifesto" for the contemporary art museum: the Italian trio has created, through frescoes, sculptures and historical reconstructions, a complex and site-specific work that gives the possibility to reimagine the past of the city. Through a series of discoveries and reconstructions, Canemorto poses a question: "What is true and what is plausible in a city with a thousand-year history?"
