Palazzo Lanfranchi National Museum of Medieval and Modern Art
Piazzetta Pascoli, Matera
Open now from 09:00 to 20:00
On 13 February, on the occasion of the anniversary of the birth of Camillo d'Errico, politician and art lover originally from Palazzo San Gervasio (PZ), the National Museum of Matera offers guided tours inside its collection, exhibited in the Museum of Palazzo Lanfranchi in Matera.
The collection, which offers an important reading of the Neapolitan figurative culture of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries through the presentation of true masterpieces painted by great masters, represents one of the largest collections of works of art in southern Italy, the only example of private collecting in Basilicata.
The guided tours will be an opportunity to learn more about Camillo d'Errico's life, the history of his collection, the subjects and artists that characterize it, but also the dialogue between d'Errico's works and those that have arrived in the National Museum of Matera through the project of the Ministry of Culture "100 works revealed. From deposits to museums”, through which the heritage and masterpieces preserved in the deposits of the most important museums reach a wider audience, exploiting the relationships that link them to certain cultural contexts. Indeed, the assets of the d'Errico collection include some 19th-century Capodimonte manufactures and Flemish and Dutch paintings that reproduce the same genre scenes present in the Flemish masterpieces by Johann Basilius Grundmann, Willem Schellinks, Cornelis Springer, Kees Terlouw who arrived in Matera from deposits of the Museum and Real Bosco di Capodimonte.
Guided tours of the d'Errico collection will take place at 10:00, 12:00, 17:00 and 18:00. To participate, reservations are required at the email address [email protected] .
