The Musée d'art contemporain de Marseille - [mac], is a contemporary art museum in Marseille. It is located outside the city center, in the 8th arrondissement of the city, in a modern building surrounded by the greenery of a park, in which it is possible to admire sculptures and installations that are part of the permanent collection of the museum. The museum was inaugurated in 1994 and its collection contains more than 800 works, covering a period of time from 1960 to the present day. The museum inherited the contemporary part of the Cantini museum. The collection contains works that belong to various artistic currents of the second half of the twentieth century, such as Nouveau Realisme, Fluxus, Arte Povera, Land Art or narrative figuration. Among the major works of the museum, names such as Armam, Klein, Spoerri, Raysse or the Marseille sculptor César stand out, but also Beuys, Pistoletto or Penone and several others. The Musée d'art contemporain de Marseille is also very active in organizing temporary exhibitions.
